Stimulants/uppers
Examples include:
- Ecstasy/MDMA, meth, amphetamines, cocaine.
You’ll feel:
- Full of energy, and with a fast heartbeat, increased sensations, self-confident, more interested in sex.
You might experience:
- Mild hallucinations, numbness, weakness, nausea/vomiting, memory problems, depression, paranoia, panic attacks, disrupted sleep, aggression, weight loss, sores, itching, dehydration. These drugs are usually addictive and can be quite easy to overdose on. You might also experience a bad come down, which could cause you to sleep for a long time afterward.
You should be concerned about:
- Missing your insulin dose because you don’t realise time has passed, or because you’ve slept for a long time after coming down, leading to high blood glucose and risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Increased metabolism means you’ll burn your energy faster and you might not notice yourself having a hypo.
