How is type 1 diabetes treated?

The main treatment for type 1 diabetes is to replace the insulin that your body is no longer producing. Insulin is replaced either through injection or through an insulin pump. Insulin can’t be taken by mouth, for example in the form of tablets, as it would just be digested in your stomach and wouldn’t work effectively.
