Blood glucose

As you have learned, keeping your blood glucose levels stable is very important to reduce your risk of both short term and long term complications.

By checking your blood glucose regularly, taking your insulin when you should, and in the correct dose, and sticking to a healthy balanced diet, you should stay on the right track. Try not to think of checking your blood glucose regularly as a chore: it gives you the power to do something about your diabetes and make any necessary adjustments to keep yourself healthy.

At each appointment, your diabetes team will discuss your day-to-day blood glucose levels and your HbA1C,  and if appropriate, suggest ways that might help you improve your blood glucose control.
