Managing your medications
If you’ve never had to take medications before, starting to take regular medications can be a challenge. As it is important to remember to take different medications at the correct time, we have added in a few helpful tips to make taking medications as easy as possible.
Be organised – Making sure you have a stock of medications at the ready is important. Although we do not recommend stockpiling a lot of unused medication, it is important to make you have enough to cover you for the days ahead, making sure you are aware of times your local GP surgery or pharmacy may be closed to avoid being caught out.
Requesting repeat prescriptions online – Many GP surgeries allow you to request repeat prescriptions online, saving you a trip to the surgery. Many also offer delivery if you are unable to collect your own prescriptions.
Ways to help you remember – Taking medications is difficult at first, however, it becomes easy once it becomes part of your daily routine. Many medications can be taken with meals but this is worth checking with your doctor or pharmacist. Sometimes remembering can be difficult, especially if you are travelling. Many patients find sorting their tablets into a handy and portable pillbox or setting an alarm on their phone can be useful ways to help them to remember.
Discuss with your doctor what medications are the most appropriate for you.
