Diabetes remission in people with type 2 diabetes means that your blood glucose levels are below the diabetes range, without needing to take any diabetes medications. This is clinically defined as your HbA1c – a measure of long-term blood glucose levels – remaining below 48 mmol/mol or 6.5% for at least 6 months.
